PYC International Energy Conference 2019

Competition

These sub-programs will take place during several months leading up to the conference. The aim of the programs is to promote the conference as well as to provide platforms for public interested in energy, environment or sustainable development sectors to voice their ideas. There are 3 different competitions available this year: photo competition, infographic competition and essay competition. Winners from each competition will also be invited with free entry to the conference on November 13, 2019 in Jakarta.

General Rules for All Competitions:

1. Entries must not contain any discriminatory or obscene language/content

2. Entries must be original work

3. After submission, all of materials will belong to PYC, thus it reserves the sole right to reproduce and publish any and all of the entries submitted for this competition

4. Registrants can participate in more than one competition at the same time.

Photo Competition

For this competition, participants can submit their photo about the following energy themes:

• Energy and environment
• Humans and energy interaction
• Energy poverty
• Green Energy

General Guidelines:

1. We are looking at three major criteria for every photo submission: creativity, inspiration and content quality.
2. Give a slight explanation of the photo.
3. Participant for this competition is only limited to personal entry.
4. One participant can submit maximum three photos.
5. Participants are highly expected to submit high-quality photo for this contest.

Prize

Judge’s choices will be awarded according to the following:

1st winner: IDR 4.000.000 + certificate + free entry to the conference

2nd winner: IDR 2.500.000 + certificate + free entry to the conference

3rd winner: IDR 1.500.000 + certificate + free entry to the conference

Other than three winners from judge’s decision, our competition will also award the favourite winner through public voting, represented by the number of likes and shares for your photo uploaded in our social media. One week after submission, you will receive the social media link which contains your photo that you can share to garner shares and likes until the competition deadline (September 27, 2019). This means that earlier submission will be advantaged for having a longer time to share their photos.

Essay Competition

For this competition, participants can submit their essay in the following topics:

• Dynamics and Geopolitics of Energy Transition
• Clean Energy Regulation and Environmental Policy
• Eradication of Energy Poverty
• Energy-Economic Forecast and Modelling
• Sustainable Energy Investment
• Energy Market Analysis
• Sustainable Development and Utilization of Fossil Fuel
• Sustainable Technology Innovation
• Clean Energy Integration

Essay Guidelines

1. This competition is both for personal and team entry. A team participation is limited to only 2 members
2. The essay must be written in English
3. The scope for your essay can be local, national, regional or global focus.
4. The full paper shall be between 1000-1500 words (excluding footnotes, tables, figures and references)
5. Font, Space and Margin: Times New Roman font size 12, 1.5 line spacing, margin 1 inch on all sides.
6. Tables and figures: Times New Roman font size 11, single line spacing.
7. Footnotes: Times New Roman font size 10, single line spacing
8. Titles: Written in English, Times New Roman font size 14, Font Bold, 1.5 line spacing.
9. The essay shall contain (i) the full name(s) of the author(s) without any title or degree, (ii) name of department or institutional affiliation, (iii) email address(es) of the author(s).
10. All submissions should be written in English.
11. Reference list: APA Style
12. Criteria:
a. Substance and originality of the concept;
b. Clarity, organization, and coherence;
c. Composition and writing style;
d. Relevance and practicality; and
e. Grammar and the use of the language.

Infographic Competition

For this competition, participants can submit their infographics related to following topics:

General Guidelines:

1. This competition will assess the entry based on four major criteria for: creativity, visualization (how easy for general public to understand it), inspiration, and content quality.
2. Infographics must be formatted in English
3. Participant for this competition can be personal or team entry (maximum 3 persons)
4. You or your team are only allowed to submit one infographic for this competition
5. Infographics should be made in A3-sized design for printing purpose
